Leon Vliegen

Leon Vliegen (°1961) is the founder of FLY. He is a very experienced senior consultant and coach for international companies and family businesses, as well as for non-profit and governmental organisations. Before becoming an entrepreneur, he was able to build up a very extensive and in depth experience as a strategic HR Business Partner in international companies and roles. He assumed the roles of coach and advisor for leaders, professionals and talents in a natural way. In 2003 he was elected as HR Manager of the Year by the Belgian HR Community.

Leon Vliegen graduated magna cum laude from UGent to hold a Master’s degree in ‘Pedagogische en Psychologische Wetenschappen’ (Pedagogical and Psychological Sciences). Among other trainings he followed are the HR Leadership Program (UHasselt), Executive Finance (AMS), a ‘Leadership Program’ and an ‘Innovation and Marketing Program’ from IMD Business School (Lausanne) and an intensive training program from The Coaching Square to be an Executive Coach.

Leon worked as HR Director for companies in industries such as chemistry, packaging and telecommunications. He can pride himself on experience as consultant, trainer and coach in the sectors of energy, chemistry, packaging, IT & telecommunications, food and services, social profit and governmental organisations.

His international career brought him into contact with many different cultures from Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and the Far East.

Leon attributed to numerous publications in HR Magazine, People Sphere and HR Square. He is a member of the editorial committee of People Square and is a wanted speaker at national and international HR conferences.

He is a member of the staff of the ‘HR Leadership Program’ of UHasselt, where, together with Professor Frank Lambrechts, he presents the three-day program ‘Strategic HR Leadership’. He also takes care, in cooperation with Professor Hilda Martens, of the three-day program ‘People Management’ of the ‘Open Border MBA’ program of UHasselt, Université Liège and FH Aachen.
